Weyhill Hawk Conservancy (I)

Tucked away at Weyhill, near Andover, Hampshire, just south of the A303, you will find the Hawk Conservancy. The Trust undertakes pioneering work for all species of raptors – birds of prey – ranging from caring for the injured through to helping with international breeding programs to help preserve species that might otherwise be on the verge of extinction. There are daily flying displays throughout the summer and this makes the trust a fantastic place for a day out, as the following images will hopefully demonstrate.

On Sunday 8th April a friend and I spent a day at Glastonbury. Deep in the heart of what was fen country, Glastonbury is famous for it’s Tor, also known as the Isle of Avalon. This name came about during the middle ages, when the fen-land that surrounds Glastonbury was prone to flooding. The Tor was one of the pieces of reliably “dry” land when the waters rose.

Blessed with a rich heritage, Glastonbury Abbey, in the heart of the town, is one of the possible resting places of the fabled King Arthur of the Britons. Though it no longer stands in it’s full or original glory, the simple ruins that remain still convey a sublime peace.
